Con el objeto de mostrar unanimidad en las demandas sanitarias de Lucena, Izquierda Unida presentaba una moción por la que solicitaba un Pacto Local Institucional por el Hospital Público de Lucena.
El concejal de Izquierda Unida, Miguel Villa, afirmaba que ha llegado el momento de comprometernos a trabajar juntos, y proponía a toda la corporación a unirse en esta reivindicación. Además, instaba a que fuese el alcalde el encargado de redactar dicho pacto por la unidad y que se hiciese público en un acto donde se invitarían a los ciudadanos y las plataformas sociales.
Todos los grupos políticos se mostraron a favor de la iniciativa en un principio, aunque el alcalde de Lucena, Aurelio Fernández, ya en su primera intervención, recriminaba a Villa que este tema se lleve al pleno sólo cuando se servía políticamente. Fernández remarcó que “todos estamos de acuerdo en que se cumpla el plan funcional y se seguirá reclamando”.

Miguel Villa, defendía su postura indicando que siempre ha reivindicado mejoras sanitarias para Lucena. Además, recordaba que la moción no iba de enfrentamiento y había que dilucidar si se pedía un centro hospitalario o sanitario.
Teresa Alonso, en representación del Partido Socialista, recordaba que cuando el PSOE gobernaba nunca se negó a que otros grupos o plataformas estuviesen presentes en las reuniones. Y reprochó que el voto en contra del PP era una oportunidad perdida para reforzar su papel en la corporación.
Fernández reiteraba que el punto de encuentro de la corporación es el plan funcional y recordaba que lo que se estipula para Lucena es un centro con dos quirófanos y 23 habitaciones y no un Hospital como el de Cabra.
