Un total de 15 sedes educativas públicas de Lucena disponen ya de banda ancha ultrarrápida gracias al programa Escuelas Conectadas de la Junta de Andalucía

Un total de 346 sedes educativas de centros públicos de Primaria y Secundaria de 71 municipios de la provincia de Córdoba poseen conexión a internet mediante redes de banda ancha ultrarrápida a través del programa ‘Escuelas Conectadas’. Dicho proyecto pretende extender y consolidar el uso de las TIC en el sistema educativo andaluz, contribuyendo a la modernización y mejora de la educación, el desarrollo de competencias y habilidades digitales del alumnado y el fomento de la igualdad de oportunidades entre los estudiantes andaluces, en consonancia con el Plan de Acción de Educación Digital de la UE.

Por municipios, Córdoba capital concentra 93 sedes, le sigue Priego de Córdoba con 17, Puente Genil con 16, Lucena y La Carlota con 15, respectivamente; Fuente Obejuna registra ocho, siete se localizan en Cabra y Montilla, respectivamente; seis en Iznajar y Palma del Río y Baena con 5, respectivamente, entre los principales municipios.

Esta iniciativa, puesta en marcha mediante acuerdo de la Junta con el Ministerio de Educación, Cultura y Deporte y la Entidad Pública Empresarial Red.es, tiene como objetivo dotar de esa conectividad a las 3.316 sedes de las que se componen los 2.911 centros públicos de primaria y secundaria existentes en Andalucía, en los que cursan estudios 1.145.954 alumnos.

Todas ellas tienen acceso a internet a través de fibra óptica con un caudal de cerca de un 1 Gbps (gigabits por segundo) y 100% garantizado, tanto en subida como en bajada; y poseen, además, de una red wifi en el interior de las instalaciones que ofrece una capacidad por usuario de 17 Mbps (megabits por segundo). Los centros incluidos en el programa pueden acceder de manera opcional a los servicios avanzados de comunicación ofrecidos por la RedIRIS, la red académica y de investigación española.

El proyecto ‘Escuelas Conectadas’, de alcance nacional, arrancó en Andalucía en diciembre de 2015 con la adhesión de la comunidad, a través de las consejerías de Economía y Educación, al convenio marco firmado entre el Ministerio de Educación y Red.es. La inversión prevista para el conjunto de las actuaciones asciende a 62,5 millones de euros, que están siendo financiados por la empresa pública empresarial a través de Fondos Europeos Desarrollo Regional (FEDER).
