Primer domingo de mayo, las 8 en cascada de sol de la tarde, las naves de San Mateo eran iluminadas por la fuerza del astro rey cuando iba cayendo en su avance hacia la noche, sabedor de que, antes de su letargo debía de besar la cara de la patrona del Campo Andaluz.
Y, sí, a las ocho abarrotadas de la tarde, en una plaza Nueva repleta, la Virgen, salía a la calle y el sol supo que su luz era menos radiante que la que desprendía su cara.
Así inició su procesión, en las últimas horas de la tarde de un primer domingo de mayo, de blanco impoluto con su manto de la coronación, sus coronas de cayetano, su rostrillo rico, su cetro, el Divino Infante en sus brazos y los tonos violáceos, malvas, morados de sus flores. Todo estaba ya anunciado, la buena nueva se echó a las calles de la primavera en las calles de Lucena.
