La Asociación Socio-Cultural Mem Guimel de Melilla concede a Manuel Lara Cantizani el Premio Mem Guimel 2020 en la categoría especial. Este colectivo ha valorado el gran amor de Lara Cantizani al pueblo judío y en particular al mundo sefardí, siendo admirado con gran amor por el judaísmo de España

Mem Guimel ha destacado que se trata de un reconocimiento al concejal lucentino por haber mostrado al mundo la importancia de Lucena como “Perla de Sefarad” y muy especialmente por su inmensa labor en la recuperación de su necrópolis judía.

Finalmente el colectivo melillense ha expresado su más sincero reconocimiento a Manuel Lara Cantizani por el apoyo que siempre les ha demostrado y por haber ejercido como embajador de Mem Guimel y de la ciudad de Melilla. Este reconocimiento ha sido recogido, en nombre de Lara Cantizani, por Francisco Carrasco presidente de la Asociación Bet Alfasi de Lucena
