La AECC solicita tratamiento psicológico especializado para los enfermos de cáncer

La Asamblea Local de la Asociación Española Contra el Cáncer sale a la calle para reivindicar atención psicológica especializada para los pacientes en el día mundial contra esta enfermedad. Según el estudio del observatorio del Cáncer, 38.604 personas afectadas por cáncer en Andalucía necesitaron este tratamiento a lo largo del pasado ejercicio. El estudio señala además que el 48 por ciento de los hospitales públicos españoles no ofrecen esta atención especializada y en el 52 por ciento restante, es insuficiente.

En España hay actualmente casi 236.000 personas afectadas por la enfermedad que necesitarían tratamiento psicológico especializado. El 13 por ciento ha sido atendida por la AECC y el 87 por ciento restante o no ha recibido esta atención o ha sido insuficiente. La mayoría de las personas que reciben tratamiento psicológico especializado de la AECC están en la fase de tratamiento activo, de enfermedad avanzada o supervivencia.

Todos los planes autonómicos o estrategias dedicadas a cáncer hacen referencia a la necesidad de brindar apoyo psicológico a placientes de cáncer y sus familiares. La Asociación Española Contra el Cáncer solicita que el sistema garantice la evaluación de niveles de distrés a las personas afectadas por el cáncer y el acceso a tratamiento psicológico especializado.
