Esta valiosa pieza donada por Comunidad Israelita de Málaga ha quedado expuesta en el Palacio de los Condes de Santa Ana

Una estructura de madera ya protege la Torá que en el pasado mes de marzo fue cedida al Ayuntamiento de Lucena por la Comunidad Israelita de Málaga. Una pieza con más de 150 años de antigüedad y de grandes dimensiones que, gracias a la labor de la delegación de Patrimonio Histórico-Artístico para la creación de este soporte, ya puede visitarse en la sala judía “Lucena… Eliossana” del Palacio de los Condes de Santa Ana.

El acto de inauguración ha contado con la presencia del alcalde de Lucena, Aurelio Fernández; el presidente de la Federación de Comunidades Judías de España, David Obadía; y la delegada de Patrimonio Histórico-Artístico, Charo Valverde, junto al técnico municipal Daniel Botella.

Este pergamino de grandes dimensiones elaborado en Marruecos es una copia en cuero de la Torá, el libro sagrado judío que contiene la ley y el patrimonio identitario de este pueblo. Como “símbolo de la luz de la creación”, las lecturas de este texto están presentes en las ceremonias religiosas del judaísmo y son de especial importancia.

Para David Obadía, “no hay sitio más adecuado en el mundo donde ubicar esta Torá que Lucena, La Perla de Sefarad, la ciudad que mejor representa al judío sefardí y con la que me unen grandes lazos gracias a amistades como la de Manuel Lara Cantizani, una figura que fue esencial para dar impulso y relevancia al espléndido patrimonio sefardí que atesora esta ciudad”.

Por su parte, Aurelio Fernández ha reiterado su agradecimiento a la comunidad judía por la donación de esta Torá y ha animado a toda la población de Lucena y visitantes a “contemplar esta pieza de enorme valor que viene a ampliar nuestro rico patrimonio y a poner en valor el pasado judío de la ciudad como una de nuestras principales señas de identidad”.
