La actividad está organizada por la Oficina de Recursos Educativos sobre el Espacio con la colaboración la Agencia Espacial Europea. Los alumnos pudieron lanzar su satélite en el aeródromo de “Los Alcores” en Alcalá de Guadaíra.
Dos equipos del IES Miguel de Cervantes han desafiado los límites de la innovación espacial en el Desafío CanSat, organizado por la Oficina de Recursos Educativos sobre el Espacio en colaboración con la Agencia Espacial Europea. Los equipos se clasificaron para la fase andaluza del concurso que se celebró el pasado 7 de mayo en el aeródromo de “Los Alcores” en la localidad sevillana de Alcalá de Guadaíra.
Uno de ellos, el equipo denominado “Vanguardia Astral”, consiguió el premio al Equipo más Profesional.
Los alumnos participantes han sido Manuel González, Hugo Mendoza, Ismael Padilla, Jonathan Alonso, Daniela Chicano, María José Torres, Gema Pino, María del Carmen Parejo, Mariló Marín, Paula González, María Serena, Patricia Muñoz e Inés Jurado. El profesor de matemáticas del centro Francisco R. Calvillo y el orientador, José Carlos Jiménez destacaba la dedicación y creatividad de estos jóvenes un verdadero ejemplo de la promesa y el potencial de la educación en nuestro país.
Durante todo el curso, estos estudiantes han estado inmersos en un proceso de aprendizaje que va más allá de las aulas convencionales. Se han iniciado en el lenguaje de programación, explorado el mundo de la robótica y experimentado con la impresión 3D, todo con el objetivo de desarrollar un satélite meteorológico que pueda caber dentro del volumen de una lata de refresco.
El proyecto implica el diseño y construcción de un satélite, denominado CanSat, que tenía que ser lanzado a una altitud de 1 km mediante un cohete o medio similar. A medida que el CanSat desciende, sostenido por un paracaídas diseñado por los propios estudiantes. En su recorrido debía recoger datos meteorológicos y transmitirlos a un sistema de tierra a través de un sistema de radio instalado en el CanSat.
Los alumnos además, tuvieron que analizar los datos y presentar sus hallazgos a un jurado experto. Este desafío no terminaba con el lanzamiento. Una vez que los datos eran recolectados, los estudiantes se enfrentaban a la tarea de analizarlos y presentar sus hallazgos a un jurado experto.
Se trata de la primera vez que el IES Miguel de Cervantes participa en el Desafío CanSat, aunque pretenden continuar acudiendo a nuevas ediciones.
