El cantaor lucentino Antonio Nieto conseguía el primer premio del VII Concurso Antonio de Canillas dotado con 2.000 €, en la localidad malagueña de Canillas de Aceituno.
Nieto se impuso en la final a Rosi Campos, de Periana (Málaga), que fue segunda, unpuesto dotado con 1.500 €, y a El Boli de Málaga, que fue tercero, con una dotación de 1.000 €.
El Ayuntamiento de Canillas de Aceituno (Málaga) creó en el año 2016 el I Concurso de Cante ‘Antonio de Canillas’ con el objetivo de fomentar el flamenco en el municipio y tributar homenaje a uno de sus hijos predilectos, Antonio Jiménez González, que ha llevado el nombre de Canillas por todo el mundo. El cantaor fallecía dos años después, aunque el concurso sigue celebrándose alanzando en 2024 su VII Edición.
