El lucentino Antonio Maíllo gana las primarias y será el Coordinador Federal de Izquierda Unida

El excoordinador de Izquierda Unida en Andalucía, Antonio Maíllo se ha impuesto a la ministra de Juventud e Infancia, Sira Rego, en las primarias para el liderazgo de la formación, al obtener su lista el 53,4 por ciento de los votos emitidos por los militantes, un total de 4.463 sufragios, para el máximo órgano de dirección de la formación.

Según informa Europa Press, Rego se ha quedado a una distancia considerable, al cosechar su candidatura, el 23,4 por ciento de los sufragios.

Por detrás se sitúa la lista del coordinador de IU Madrid, Álvaro Aguilera, con un 14,1 por ciento de los votos.

De esta forma, el lucentino Antonio Maíllo regresa a la primera línea política tras renunciar en 2019 como coordinador de IU en Andalucía, cargo que ostentaba desde 2013 y regresar a su puesto de profesor de secundaria.

Partidario de confluencias amplias en la Izquierda, primero con Podemos en 2019 en el caso andaluz y ahora con Sumar, Maíllo ha desplegado un discurso basado en potenciar el contacto de la dirección de IU con la militancia y la calle, así como en  desplegar una política para las periferias.
